BNI HistoryIntroduction The company's newest product named PowerPlay provides full motion, multipoint video conferencing with data collaboration and device control over any IP-based network. BNI is based in State College, PA and has technical and sales people located across the country. The company is an owned subsidiary of Numerex Technologies, which is a provider of solutions for a wide variety of communication applications. Numerex is a public company and is traded on the NASDAQ under the symbol (NMRX). Early Days - Analog Video Systems In 1991, BNI entered the distance learning market via the Indianapolis Project. BNI products were used by Ameritech to interconnect all 90 schools of the Indianapolis Public School System with multichannel outbound (16) and multichannel inbound (4) video capability at each location. In addition, forty-two of the ninety locations used the system for 10 Mbps Ethernet networking. In the course of this effort, BNI developed a comprehensive line of products for interactive video applications, including:
1998 to Present - Data Networks BNI began to provide a turnkey solution for high speed Ethernet data networking, which was again marketed in partnership with fiber providers who supplied the physical infrastructure to interconnect sites. The Development &
Introduction of PowerPlay The PowerPlay solution reflects the combined video and data expertise of BNI. BNI's data engineers complete a detailed assessment of a network prior to the installation of PowerPlay hardware to assure that the network is configured properly to deliver all of the services required, including PowerPlay. Also, BNI video engineers work with the customer to assure that room configuration issues (lighting, audio, peripheral location, etc.) are all considered and addressed. Summary
