Distance Learning - Video conferencing in Education
BNI specializes in distance learning systems that utilize high bandwidth
networks to deliver premium audio and video. Below are a couple examples
of successful BNI distance learning systems.
PowerPlay shrinking the distance between rural schools.
Students in the twelve rural school districts that stretch
across 6,600 square miles of rural Southeast Colorado
are using technology to close the gap of distance. These
districts make up the Southeastern Board of Cooperative
Educational Services (BOCES). They may be separated by
distance, but the gap is getting smaller academically thanks
to the expanding PowerPlay distance-learning system
provided by BNI Solutions.…More-->
PowerPlay provides unique oppertunities to students in a school district that streches 22,000 square miles.
Just a few years ago, it was typical for students in the
Northeast Arizona Technological Institute of Vocational
Education (N.A.T.I.V.E.) school district to move away from
home to pursue an education. But thanks to the district’s
use of the PowerPlay distance-learning system from BNI
Solutions, students can remain at home with their families
and in their own school, while still participating in lessons
being offered as far as 200 miles away…More-->
High Speed WAN and PowerPlay combine for an award winning solution for El Paso Independent School District
On May 2, at the Kennedy Space Center, The Astronauts Memorial Foundation (The AMF) honored Mr. Charles Geach as its 2004 recipient of The Alan Shepard Technology in Education Award. Named after Alan Shepard, one of our nation’s original seven Mercury astronauts, the first American to fly in space, one of only 12 humans who has walked on the moon, and a former AMF board member, this award recognizes the educator who demonstrates excellence in the development and delivery of educational technology programs…More-->
High Speed WANs
BNI builds fiber-based, high speed WANs that deliver bandwidth to accommodate
voice video and data traffic running over the same network infrastructure.
City of Tyler Municipal Network
BNI partnered with TCA (now part of Cox Communications) to provide 100
Mbps Ethernet data capability to each of 18 sites for the city of Tyler,
Texas. Included on the network are the locations for the city's police
and fire facilities, as well as the county library, utility and court
facilities. The network design is unique in that it provides redundancy
through route diversity and automatic switching between paths.
"The most exciting thing about this technology
from our standpoint is it didn't cost us that much money. At the same
time, it's going to save us a tremendous amount of money, We are going
to run our telephony on this network," stated John D'Anna, Chief
Information Officer, City of Tyler.
Socorro Independent School District, El Paso Texas
BNI partnered with Time-Warner to provide 100 Mbps Ethernet data capability
to each of 22 sites that comprise the Socorro Independent School District
(SISD) for a period of ten years. The backbone connections provide the
capability for multiple Gbps. BNI's role in this project included proposal
response, design of the network, complete BOM, installation of the network
and ongoing maintenance and support.
"The school district is very excited about this
high speed network," stated Wim R. van den Berge, Executive Director of
Information Systems, Socorro Independent School District (SISD). "We have
seen the success of this type of network in other areas and we look forward
to running new leading-edge applications that will create a sense of community
within our district and enhance our student curriculum."

Private CATV:
BNI has worked since the early 1990's to provide high quality fiber optic
transmission products for campus CATV distribution systems.
Appalachian State University
Appalachian State University utilized BNI's analog fiber optic transmission
equipment to facilitate a broadband CATV network that delivers 110 CATV
channels to the entire campus over single mode fiber.
